This is part of a set of pictures inspired by California. They are literal, and tightly done, and open to interpretation; they are colorful and monochromatic, repetitive and random. They are waves that have broken shore for me during our time here.
“We act as if comfort and luxury were the chief requirements of life when all that we need to make us really happy is something to be enthusiastic about.” – Charles Kingsley
We think we are in it, we are getting it, we are making it, but without consciousness before too long we are out of it, losing it, faking it. Being plugged into something explosive is exciting and good until somebody comes along and pulls the pin. Sometimes blowing ourselves up can be a good thing – we reassemble the disparate parts into a finer whole. At other times we needlessly cut a swath of destruction through our lives that leaves only chaos and a fracturing of all of the progress we have made.
