This is part of a series of paintings (now in private collections) about people that I met over the course of a few years when I was younger. I was trying to encapsulate each person’s qualities using metaphorical imagery, they aren’t literal depictions. Alice (not her real name!) was young, naive, idealistic, hopeful, hopeless, and well on her way.
