This painting was inspired by two actual people that I knew in California. The ‘BFF’ culture there is a very real and tangible thing, and people really would and do follow each other off of the face of a cliff. There are fads around every corner, and people spend so much time in a drug-addled, FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out)-inspired frenzy, the moments that they actually inhabit often go largely unnoticed, and they miss out on a lot.
